Al-Jamiatul Islamiatul Jalilia Madrasa is located in the remote area of Ratabari in Karimganj district, near Ratabari Railway Station and adjacent to the renowned Kazir Bazar in the village of Tholgawn. The madrasa possesses its own land and building, established in 1999 through the efforts of distinguished Islamic scholars and respected individuals from the area.
Initially, it was known as "Shah Abdul Jalil Chowdhury Hifzia Madrasa." In 2000, the institution’s educational activities were formally inaugurated by the second Amir-e-Shariat of Northeast India, Allama Taiyabur Rahman Barbhuiya (Rahimahullah). With Allah's blessings and the support of the local community, the madrasa has consistently progressed. In 2012, with the help of a group of young scholars, the madrasa was transformed into a comprehensive Islamic educational institution and its name was changed to "Al-Jamiatul Islamiyatul Jalilia."
Currently, the madrasa offers various departments, including Hifzul Quran, Alia, Dawra-e-Hadith, Shu’ba-e-Qira’at, among others. It provides a peaceful environment conducive to learning, supported by well-developed dormitories for students. The curriculum is designed to integrate necessary general education alongside Islamic studies, ensuring a modern and relevant educational experience.
For underprivileged and needy students, a fund named "Al-Jamia Miskin Fund" has been established under the madrasa's management committee. Additionally, there is a student union called "Talameez-e-Ahl-e-Haq," aimed at fostering students' talents and skills.
The madrasa operates as a Qawmi institution and is managed by a committee composed of representatives from the local Muslim community. It is recognized under the Tanzeem-ul-Madaris al-Islamiah board, overseen by the Emarat-e-Shariah and Nadwatut Tamir of Northeast India.
